Eclipse:

An eclipse occurs when one object moves in front of another object in space.

 

Solar Eclipse:

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly between Earth and the Sun.


An eclipse of the Sun can only occur at New Moon when the Moon passes between Earth and Sun.
