What is Greenhouse Effect?

Greenhouse effect:

The greenhouse effect is a process that occurs when gases in Earth's atmosphere trap the Sun's heat.

The Earth's atmosphere acts like a greenhouse.

But gases, such as carbon dioxide and water vapour, absorb some of the heat waves given off as the Earth cools down.

Without them, the Earth would be about 30 °C colder.
