Fractional distillation:

Fractional distillation is a process of separating a mixture of chemical compounds.


Chemical compounds are separated by heating them to a temperature at which one or more fractions of the mixture will vaporize.

Fractional distillation is the separation of a mixture into its component parts.

The liquid nitrogen and oxygen are then separated by fractional distillation . 

The liquefied air is passed into the bottom of a fractionating column.
