Define Cracking.

Cracking:

The process by which heavy hydrocarbon molecules are broken up into lighter molecules.

Cracking is the name given to breaking up large hydrocarbon molecules into smaller and more useful bits. This is achieved by using pressures, temperatures and catalyst.
