What is a Catalysts How catalyst work?  Define Activation Energy.

Catalysts:

Any substance that increases the rate of a reaction without itself being consumed.

A catalyst is a substance which speeds up a chemical reaction. At the end of the reaction, the catalyst is chemically unchanged.

How catalyst work?

Before reactants can turn into products, need enough energy to start off the reaction. Sometimes particles with low energy can collide, but not react.

A catalyst lowers the activation energy.

Activation Energy:

The minimum energy needed to start a reaction is called its activation energy.
